Artist
Sandor Polgari
Sándor Polgári is a Hungarian visual artist who began painting at the age of 47. Since 2022, he has developed an extensive body of work exploring inner states, memory, landscape and the relationship between the visible world and personal experience.
His paintings emerge from an intuitive process in which observation, attention and inner experience gradually transform into images. Landscapes, figures, trees and urban elements appear as carriers of emotional and psychological presence rather than as literal representations of reality.
Polgári works primarily with acrylic on recycled fibreboard (HDF), often incorporating reused materials, textured surfaces and palette-knife techniques. The choice of materials is closely connected to his interest in transformation: discarded or ordinary materials become surfaces for images that explore memory, perception and inner experience.
His artistic practice is deeply informed by many years of Himalayan yoga practice and by the experience of sustained attention. For Polgári, painting is a way of entering a state in which thought becomes quieter and perception becomes more direct.
Since beginning his practice, he has created more than 270 paintings and published two artist books, with further publications and exhibition projects currently in development. His current focus is on expanding his artistic practice and establishing an international presence for his work.
