Tara Harris

Tara Harris (b. 1969, Birmingham, UK) is a contemporary painter based in Birmingham. She studied Fine Art at Bournville College of Art before graduating from Newcastle Polytechnic in 1991 with a BA (Hons) in Fine Art, specialising in printmaking. After a career in arts education, she returned to painting full-time in 2024. Harris constructs landscapes that seem less observed than excavated. Geological forms become repositories of memory, while luminous seams and fleeting, calligraphic traces suggest moments of emergence rather than description. Working intuitively in layered paint, she creates imagined terrains that invite viewers to inhabit places that feel psychologically true rather than geographically fixed.
