Artist
Kwalikwalaba
David Kwalikwalaba is a Congolese-born contemporary visual artist and illustrator based in Kampala, Uganda, working at the intersection of Afro-surrealism and symbolic minimalism. Having experienced forced displacement as a child, his creative practice investigates the psychological landscapes of migrated communities, collective memory, and territorial identity. Recently a resident artist at MAKANO Art Space, Kwalikwalaba’s distinct visual vocabulary utilizes stark high-contrast house silhouettes and realistic watchful eyes. His work serves as a critical, unblinking archive of human resilience and future cultural reclamation.
